The Rockbridge Trainer Schooling Consortium (RTEC) is a partnership between Washington and Lee College and Southern Virginia University. This collaborative structure produces a vital mass of diverse college students for every education course that enriches class discussions and collaborative projects. Secondary lecturers (center school and highschool) can major in English, Arithmetic, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Political Science, or Spanish.
Because the world that lecturers are preparing young individuals to enter is altering so quickly, and because the teaching expertise required are evolving likewise, no initial course of teacher schooling might be enough to prepare a teacher for a career of 30 or 40 years.
Increasingly, emphasis is placed upon ‘transversal’ or ‘horizontal’ expertise (resembling ‘studying to study’ or ‘social competences’), which reduce across traditional topic boundaries, and therefore call into query conventional methods of designing the Trainer Training curriculum (and conventional school curricula and methods of working in the classroom).
