Topsy-turvy retail experience
( the nederlands, fashion, interior )For the first Viktor & Rolf boutique, fashion designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren asked architect Siebe Tettero and designer Sherrie Zwail to “give a new perspective on a shop.”

The upside-down neoclassical décor of the store begins at the front door. The knob is nearly eye-level. Enter, look up and you’ll see the doormat. The oak parquet is on the ceiling and chandeliers are sprouting out of the floor.
In fitting rooms, the chair backs act as hooks for clothes hangers.
The TV set showing the designers’ runway show is also upside down. In each room, there is a fireplace flanked by chairs, with mirrors above (or rather underneath) them.
